The Alexander and Alice C. Jarvis Memorial Scholarship is the generous bequest of the late Alexander and Alice C. Jarvis in 2006 and brought to fruition the long held desire of various board members to offer multiple year scholarships. Applicants must have received a Foundation Traditional Scholarship in June 2024, successfully completed their first two years of college, and have maintained a minimum GPA of 3.5 or better. The scholarships are $7,000 a year through the student’s junior & senior college years as long as the student continues to maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5. Once selected, students are required to send their fall and spring semester transcripts each year to demonstrate their GPA standing.
This is a highly competitive scholarship with limited funding. As a result, the Jarvis committee only grants seven scholarships each year. In the past, when there were 20-25 applications, the GPA cutoff was 3.0. In the last two years, the number of applications has risen to 70-80 and competition for these scholarships has increased markedly. Thus, changes were needed in the application process. The committee also recognized that historically, the Jarvis awards were consistently presented to students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Therefore, the change in GPA requirements was deemed necessary, but the criteria for selecting recipients has not otherwise changed.
Scholarships may be used for academic and lab fees, books, tuition, and required material for the course of instruction.
Application Deadline: June 15, 2026
